The Examinations Officer here at Thornton Grammar School is Mrs Sarah Holden and she can be contacted via e-mail

slh@thorntongs.ngfl.ac.uk or by telephoning school reception.

Exams for our students begin in Year 9 and continue throughout their time at school. The main Exams periods are November, January, March, May and June.

All students receive a personalised Statement of Entry indicating their Exam entries, via their Form Tutors, which they have to check carefully, sign and provide a mobile contact number. When these are returned, the students then receive their personalised Examination Timetable along with an "Information to Students and Parents " booklet. This booklet explains all the rules and regulations students must follow when sitting their exams. Parents are strongly advised to liaise with Mrs Holden regarding absences or ill health for exams as alternative provision, in a variety of forms, are available to students. Mrs Holden can organise and oversee this.

It is vital that all students arrive for their exams on time, with all their equipment and fully prepared.

We appreciate that exams can be a stressful time for students. If any student does have any queries or concerns they can see Mrs Holden in the Exams office ( A35 ) at break, lunchtime or after school.

Inclement Weather and Examinations

We intend to run examinations as normal, even if the rest of the school is closed due to weather conditions.  Hopefully parents should have received a letter from school regarding this.  If you did not receive this letter then please download one here.
